Discover the 2024 Honda Civic - a blend of style, efficiency, and driving joy. Explore its design, performance, and tech features in our comprehensive review. If you're after a dependable, everyday companion with a touch of flair, the 2024 Honda Civic could be your perfect match.
The 2024 Honda Civic is like your favorite pair of jeans that you can't throw away—comfortable, reliable, and unassuming. It ranked second on the list of 7 Commuter Cars today for a good reason. Few cars available today hold a candle to the Honda Civic's near-perfect daily driver DNA.
Starting at $23,950, you can easily get all the practicality and driving thrills anyone would need. Base-level models come with a 158-hp 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with the option to upgrade to a more powerful 180-hp turbocharged 1.5-liter engine.
Compared to other sedans in the same price range, such as the Toyota Corolla or the Hyundai Elantra, the Civic stands out for its exceptional gas mileage, interior space, and excellent driving performance.
Overall Comfort and Design
The 2024 Honda Civic has a distinct, fun design outside and in. Stylized LED headlights and taillights come standard on every trim level. From every angle, you can tell the design team thought long and hard about what they were adding and taking away. You can feel the effects of its aerodynamic design in the way it handles and in its average fuel consumption.
The cabin is just as much a triumph as the exterior design. Inside, the Civic is stylish, well-manufactured, and spacious, which is a feat in itself for a compact sedan. I especially love the honeycomb air vents along the dash.
Higher trim models come with heated and ventilated seats, making sure you and your passengers. Most importantly, there is a copious amount of storage throughout the cabin. Large pockets are fashioned in each door, the center console offers plenty of storage, and the pockets behind the front seats are generous. The back row splits and opens up to its 14.8 cu-ft trunk.
Engine and Performance
The 2024 Civic offers the same powertrain as the last generation. The LX and the Sport have the standard 158-hp 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine, while the EX and Touring have the upgraded, slightly faster 180-hp turbocharged 1.5-liter engine. Front-wheel drive is the only option for the 2024 Civic.
Since 2022, the only Civic model with a six-speed manual transmission is the hatchback; otherwise, you are stuck with an automatic CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission).
As far as performance goes, the 2024 Civic handles like a dream. It's equally zippy and responsive to the driver's touch. Driving it is a treat. Once behind the wheel, the driver will feel like they're on the track getting ready for a race instead of driving to work.
Tech and Safety Features
"Nifty" is the word that comes to mind when talking about tech available inside. Base models come with a 7-inch infotainment center, and a 9-inch infotainment center is available for upgraded models. The infotainment center is smart, responsive, and intuitive and can easily connect to your phone with Apple Carplay and Android Auto.
It also has safety features like automated emergency braking, lane-departure warning, and adaptive cruise control. Still, my favorite feature they offer on the new Civic is walk-away locking. Once you've turned off your car, closed the doors, and walked away, your vehicle will automatically lock itself. Imagine the peace of mind when you go into the grocery store, come home for the day, or walk into work, knowing your car is locked.
Trims and Pricing
There are four different trim levels for the 2024 Honda Civic: LX, Sport, EX, and Touring. Prices range from $23,950 to $30,550. For the best bang for your buck, I would recommend the EX. Starting at $26,950, you get a faster car with better gas mileage than any other trim. On top of that, you get the larger infotainment screen, a moon roof, and a blind spot information system.
Fuel Efficiency
No matter where you live, gas is expensive, so I love the 2024 Honda Civic. The EX model gets 33 miles to the gallon in the city and 42 on the highway, which gives the average driver 36 miles to the gallon. It's an excellent choice for around-town driving, even better if you have to drive on the highway to get to work and the best overall, non-hybrid choice if you are going on a road trip. While other trims aren't as impressive as the EX, they aren't anything to scoff at. Look at these stats:
- LX - 31 City, 40 Highway, and 35 Combined.
- Sport - 30 City, 37 Highway, and 33 Combined.
- EX - 33 City, 42 Highway, and 36 Combined.
- Touring - 31 City, 38 Highway, and 34 Combined.
You are buying a Honda Civic. It isn't the flashiest or fastest car on the road today. But like a Swiss Army knife, you'll be ready for any situation life throws your way. It's quick, responsive, gets great gas mileage, and comfortable. If you are looking for a great daily driver, do yourself a favor and get the 2024 Honda Civic.
